Family Vacation Mini - YMH dt project
Happy Monday fellow crafters.. I started a family vacation mini a few weeks ago and have been show casing the pages every Monday as my design team project for Your Memories Here..
I'm loving this Windsor stack (its on sale by the way) I got from YMH, it has some amazing papers inside, most of them are embossed with golds, browns, blacks and purples.. plus, I don't have to worry about coordinating cardstock cause it comes with that as well.. Making my job a whole lot easier :)..
I got the cover done yesterday and just went a little crazy with the gold stickles..LOL
I cut a piece of clear plastic that was actually a cover to one of my paper stacks, what a way to recycle..
I then took a stamp and some black ink, stamped on the edges with a floral print.. covered the middle with some of the paper from the Windsor Collection, found the chipboard title in my stash of goodies, added some purple hydrangeas, little white roses and green leaves.. final touches, I added some drops with gold stickles and some Prima E-Line gems..
For the first pages on the inside:
For this page I added some of the big roses that came in my Prima Grab bag, plus some of the mini purple roses, which accented nicely with the bigger ones.. I also added some leaves, which I dabbed with some gold paint.. I did stamp the edges of the pages with and edge stamp: Architectural Trims by Tattered Angles. which I then added some white pearl drops to accent them..
for this page, I added some journaling tags which I have written on, but since I'm not to happy with hand writing, I will keep them hidden..LOL Here you can see more of the mini roses, leaves and the stamped trim.
After we were on the road for two days, we finally reached out destination. Dubuque, Iowa.. Our kids were so tired but we got them up early so we could head off to meet their relatives.. I once again used the purple hydrangeas, white mini roses and leaves.. I also used E-line pearls for the middle of the flowers..
and finally this is one of the last pages I have done (for now), still have a few to go.. and yes, my daughter is flicking me the bird..LOL I kept telling her to smile at the camera, remind you this is about 6am after we drove for two days from Florida to Iowa.. She wasn't very happy..LOL I covered her little gesture with a chipboard sticker..LOL My boys are on the little clear acetate sheet I added in the middle..
All right then fellow crafters, thats my Monday post for this week.. Do stop by next week and I'll have a video walk through of the whole finished album..
Thank you all for stopping by today and checking out what I've been creating..
Hugs

STOP the World...
I want to get off preferrably at an exotic island location!! Please?? LOL
Well it is Sunday evening yet again and I have not even attempted to craft this week...though I have a perfectly good and wonderful reason. For those who dont know, we have been finishing our basement over the last 3 weeks. It has been an all consuming process for both my husband and I. We both work 50 hours a week plus all the time we have put into the basement getting it all ready. We have framed, drywalled, sanded, painted and stained more then I thought humanly possible but we are seeing the end. They come to lay the carpet on Tuesday and then it will all be *almost* done!
So because I dont have crafty goodies to share, I am going to share my brand spanking new craft studio with you. Everything has been done at my request which makes it even nicer I think. I chose kitchen cabinets as they are deeper and generally have shelving as well as being able to support 10' long counter tops. The first photo is the view from the staircase, this was as the cabinets were put into place and before they were painted...yes I painted oak cabinets (I think my husband was horrified!)

The next shot is from the base of the stairs looking towards the counter where my computer will live.

This is how the cabinets now look with a coat of paint...looking closely you an see the woodgrain pulling through the paint.

This cabinet will have a sink put in it once the plumbing gets completed so I will have somewhere to clean up all my paints and brushes :)
This week I also received happy mail from Kristina...I bought the clearance grab bags of Prima goodies...so I filled a draw...(well 2 actually but shhhh dont tell hubby!)

Today has seen me starting to relocate my craft supplies to the new studio...it is a very long tedious process and one I am not liking very much at all LOL! This week will see the arrival of my new bar stools and then I can start creating downstairs. I can hardly wait for that!

Keep an eye peeled next Sunday for the project I have up my sleeve...it is something I have had swirling in my mind for a while...until then have a fabulous week!

Laugh Canvas Bag
Hello SPRING! I cannot believe how nice it's been! I'm sure it's going to rain today since I washed my van and all the windows in my house inside and out yesterday. Gotta love it. I have a canvas bag for you today! I LOVE the way Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist colors the canvas. I sprayed the bag down pretty good with water before I sprayed my mist on. It really helps move the color around and in all the cracks and crevices.
I first used a Tattered Angels swirly mask with Turquoise over the Dragonfly but wasn't feeling it. So I got out this TA mask and I used a little bit if watered down white paint and a stipple brush and made sure to go over the outside edge to get the whole image. You can still see the mask in the background too in some spots too. Love that.
The "laugh" is Prima and came like this. All I added was white paint around all the edges. Cute!
I didn't want to leave the handles the canvas color so I watered down a tad of yellow paint and painted it on. You could use mist for this step as well.
After I had everything in place and glued down I sprayed it all over with Marshmallow Glimmer Mist.
These Prima flowers could not be more perfect! I just LOVE the colors together! So fun and fresh and ready for Spring! I was SO glad that I had some of these fun fall leaves. The orangey colors were just what I needed. Thank you Prima for making crafty time sooo much fun. <3
I did add a tiny but of the watered down white paint just inside the bag so you saw the clean white instead of the canvas color. Be sure to go check out the store at yourmemorieshere.com! I know she's always adding fun new things!
I hope you have a fun and crafty day!
Kimberly :)

More Tea Anyone?
Hi everyone, Nancy here today to share with you the little teapot I created to accompany the little teacups I made last week.
It took me quite a while and a number of attempts to get the right shape and size, but I think I finally did it. The look of the Prima papers with lots of yummy trims and a sweet little Prima flower from the Your Memories Here store really made the "pot" come to life; and the addition of a huge bloom with a bit more lace for the lid completed the look.
Needless to say, my daughter is very happy with her little doll tea set and is looking forward to lots of parties with her friends and their dolls soon.

Here is the link for the teapot and cups template if you would like to try your hand at them. You will need two of the spout pieces if you want it to have more dimension. I painted the underside of my papers with a bit of gold paint and then glittered for a more finished look.
Have fun with your creations today.
Hugs.

Sunday In Spring!!
Today is a glorious day!! It is 60° and the sun is shining...hubby took the Harley out for a much needed wind therapy ride and I stayed home to finish a few chores before Monday rolls around again. Today I am sharing with you a banner that my daughter asked to me make for her for her birthday. She is 15 tomorrow and I am feeling rather old LOL!
I have used a chipboard banner that I got from HERE and I grabbed the papers from my stash. Bek had a theme in mind and I just went with it. I adhered everything with Helmar Decoupage Glue (seriously my fave adhesive!) and then I set about painting birds and working on placement. As most of my craft space is now in boxes waiting to be moved to their new home in my finished basement/craft studio I had the darndest time trying to find all the 'bits' I wanted to use. Anyway, I misted the Prima Resistant Canvas using Glimmer Mist in Olive Vine,Walnut Gold and Daisy. I cut the back off a Tim Holtz button and adhered it to the panel. I then ran some Distress Ink over it to dull the bright white pearl colour off it. The chipboard birds are painted warm white and then a liquidtex brilliant gold ink has been applied white the paint was semi wet so it has a more creamy look. The hanging birdcage was leftover from a Live With Prima kit I had in my stash.
The centre panel is focussed on a woman in a rather 'odd' position...odd suits my daughter perfectly lol so this panel is more her. The flowers are Prima of course from leftovers from the Summer grab bags and various Live With Prima kits.
I thoroughly enjoyed making this banner for Bek...but I must say I can not wait to get everything unpacked in my new space. It seems that all of us on the DT have been renovating our craft spaces lately and I love the inspiration everyone has given via their posts. Today we bought some of the cabinets for my space and now I get to paint and distress them to my hearts desire over the next week or so (depending on my work schedule easing a little) so keep your eyes peeled for a post in coming weeks as I share my brand new custom built craft studio :)
Until then have a marvellous week!

Going Green
Supplies:
Cardstock: Recollections
Lace, Leaves, Pearls, Rhinestones: Prima
Dew Drops: The Robin's Nest
Netting: Webster's Pages
Stickers: Little Yellow Bicycle
Alcohol Ink, Distress Ink: Ranger
Mist: Tattered Angels
Swiss Dots Embossing Folder: Provocraft
Tool: Cuttlebug
Other: Tulle
I'm so happy it's Friday! It's Dana here today and I'm going green in preparation for St. Patrick's Day. Green is my favorite color, but is greatly underrepresented in my scrap supplies. With the help of some Alcohol Ink, Distress Ink, Distress Stickles and Glimmer Mist, I was able to change my white and clear embellishments to wonderful shades of green.
It's easy to change the color of rhinestones and pearls with Ranger's Alcohol Ink. Using an acrylic block, or other non-absorbent surface, squeeze a small amount of Alcohol Ink onto your work surface and apply to the rhinestones and pearls with a Q-tip. Note: I used Alcohol Ink in Lettuce to color the embellishments shown in the photo.
Alcohol Ink can also be used to color Dew Drops. Simply place the desired amount of Dew Drops into a plastic bag, add a couple of drops of Alcohol Ink and shake the bag until the Dew Drops are evenly coated. Remove the wet Dew Drops from the plastic bag to dry.
Lace and ribbon absorb mist well. It only took a few pumps of mist to color my lace. Try using more than one color of mist for a one-of-a-kind color.
Distress Inks are fun to work with and a great way to add color to white cardstock. I used Distress Ink in Peeled Paint, Shabby Shutters, Evergreen Bough and Pine Needles to color my cardstock.
Randomly press the ink pads onto a craft mat and then spritz with water. Lay the cardstock over the ink and swirl the cardstock around until the entire piece is colored.
This is what my cardstock looked like once it was dry.
Distress Stickles not only add a pop of color to any project, but also some fabulous shine.
I used Distress Stickles in Forest Moss, Bundled Sage and Crushed Olive to color my buttons.
Here is the card that I created with my new green embellishments. I decided to add some texture to my cardstock and used my Cuttlebug and Swiss Dots embossing folder. The green "Princess Petal" is handmade. If you missed my tutorial, you can see how I made the flower by following this LINK. I usually forget that I can custom color my embellishments to suit my needs. If you are the same way, I hope that this post has served as a fun reminder of what your color mediums can do for you. You can pick up Alcohol Ink, Distress Ink, Glimmer Mist and Distress Stickles in a variety of colors from the Your Memories Here Store. Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping!

My Craft Room
Hello! I have 2 showings this week and those of you who have sold a house know how hard it is to keep is "showing" ready. Especially with kids and pets and a husband. Sometimes I think they need to stay in a hotel so I can clean and it STAY clean. It's really hard and stressful. So, to save myself the time and energy I thought I'd show you my scrap space while things are put away (or lost forever). Sometimes I stick stuff places and then find it months later. I have friends that can vouch for that. lol The Realtor guy told me it would be best if I boxed it all up and my husband started laughing. Not gonna happen buddy. If they can't look past it and envision it as a different space they don't deserve my house anyway..right. lol
This is the view as you round the corner from my kitchen. You can see the counter top on the left.
This is the view as you round the corner from my kitchen. You can see the counter top on the left.
This is my work surface.
Paint and storage.
My puter.
I love my cubby cabinets but they can get cluttered pretty easily.
My Mom gave me this hutch. I love it. It's light and easy for me to move around on my own. It stores a lot. The bottom drawers are the girls things like feathers and pipe cleaners and glue sticks. They have a few spots in here where I put things just for them. If I label things for them then they tend to stay out of off limits things. Like Mommy's pretty Prima flowers.
This is where I store my non Thicker letters. It helps when I am looking for size specific letters.
These little drawers and paper storage are my bff's. While she's in New Zealand doing wonderful things for the Lord I am keeping them well loved.
This cabinet with the doors is nothing but Christmas stuff.
This cabinet is another gift from my Mom. I have my bag books in there and lots of other things. I LOVE the plastic storage jars and the storage cabinets.
This hutch was a garage sale find for $35.
These canvas bins I found at my local Family Dollar for $2 a piece. The bigger canvas bins were 3 for $5!
This white cabinet used to be in my daughters room and when she didn't want it I took it for punch storage.
This little suitcase I got from my Husband's Christmas present from my Mom. It had hot sauces in it and I had nothing to do with which one she chose. (heehee)
I am IN LOVE with the cubby cabinet my Mom got me for Christmas from Pottery Barn. I live in the country with no neighbors but I'm sure the people in town heard my squeals of joy when I opened it. :)
I of course forgot one picture of the cabinet with the lamp on it. It has my big punches in a plastic container and the rest is lace and ribbon. I also keep all my ball trim here too.
I made the white shelf on the wall that holds Glimmer Mist perfectly ( I still can't believe it). I try to keep them organized by colors but my girls LOVE to play with it so every once in a while I reorganize it. The plant stand I found at a flea market for $5.
I hope you enjoyed my space. My goal today is to clear off all the 3 drawer plastic containers so it looks a little better. Can you imagine packing ALL this away? Me either.
I do know that it is unlikely that I have a space like this wherever we move to but I will make the best of it. When we look at houses my Husband thinks of me and my crap...I mean stuff. lol I hope to find a new house we can all be happy in! :)
Hope you have a fabulous day!
Happy crafting...or reorganizing!
Kimberly
